At the fourth edition of the Robotekin Topaketak, members of the Basque Robotics and Automation Association travelled to Mondragón to take a closer look at the facilities of our partner, Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa, which has offered its premises to serve as a new meeting point for the Basque ecosystem.
Robotekin’s director, Leire Balzategui, welcomed everyone to a new session dedicated to networking, analysis, learning and, above all, sharing knowledge about new technologies and innovation. “On this occasion, we wanted to bring Robotekin Topaketak into the university environment because it is important that there is a close connection and collaboration between the academic and business worlds in order to train new talent, taking into account the needs and rapid evolution of robotics and automation,” said Balzategui.
Before beginning the tour of the various facilities, Luka Eciolaza, head of the Robotics and Automation Research Group at MGEP, explained the group’s main activities. “We wanted to show the Robotekin community how we work and collaborate with companies, highlighting the resources and capabilities we have available at the university,” said Eciolaza. With this aim in mind, the tour took in the key areas of Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa: the Robotics Laboratory and the HIREKIN building.
In the Robotics laboratory, attendees were able to see examples of manufacturing-oriented robotic solutions, developments in AI applied to robotics – where the aim is to achieve system autonomy through machine learning and natural language interaction – and industrial automation applications.
In the HIREKIN building at Mondragon Unibertsitatea, a space dedicated to business innovation, attendees were shown examples of entrepreneurial initiatives developed in partnership with companies, demonstrating how the university supports organisations and individuals in their transformation and innovation processes.
The laboratories at the Higher Polytechnic School are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which is why it is very common for leading companies to turn to the school to carry out their research projects, testing or the roll-out of new applications.
Similarly, the HIREKIN space is an innovation and entrepreneurship centre dedicated to sustainable industrial transformation. It offers new services and specialised technology facilities to support entrepreneurship. The project aims to become a leading centre for helping companies to conceive and develop projects in the fields of innovation and sustainable industrial and technological entrepreneurship.
This semester’s final Topaketak concluded with a coffee break, which provided an opportunity to exchange views, share ideas and network.
Members from Armería Eskoka, Automach Ingenieria, Egibide, Fagor Arrasate, the CTA Foundation (Centre for Aeronautical Technologies), Insertec, Ikerlan, Rubi Automotive, SMC, TECNALIA, Tekniker and Vector 0 Robotics took part in this latest Topaketa.
