The event featured demonstrations of VIROO and Simumatik and explored the role of virtual environments in integrating artificial intelligence into robotics
Virtualware’s premises in Basauri hosted a new edition of Robotekin Topaketak, where members of the Basque Association of Robotics and Automation explored how virtual reality, digital twins and industrial simulation can support the design and validation of automated solutions.
During the session, attendees saw practical demonstrations of VIROO and Simumatik. These platforms enable collaboration in virtual reality environments and the creation of virtual replicas of machines and processes to test their behaviour before physical implementation. They help identify potential problems and evaluate changes before introducing them into a real installation.
Virtualware, a Robotekin member specialising in enterprise software based on 3D technologies, virtual reality and simulation, demonstrated how these capabilities can help industrial companies plan and improve their production processes.
The event also explored the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into robotics and automation. “AI will transform robotics and automation. Combining these technologies opens up many possibilities, while also raising questions and uncertainties that need to be addressed,” explained Mikel Ayani, head of the Simumatik platform. He also stressed that “digital twins are essential for testing artificial intelligence before applying it to a robot”.
For Leire Balzategui, General Director of Robotekin, “it is important that companies, particularly SMEs, are familiar with these tools, which will enable them to implement automation in stages and in a safer and more effective way”.
The event concluded with a Q&A and a networking session, where participants shared experiences and challenges related to automation and robotics, helping them get to know one another and identify opportunities for collaboration.
