AVS develops the first 100% Basque satellite

The Alava-based company AVS (Added Value Solutions), one of the associate members of Robotekin, has just made public one of its most important projects: the design and manufacture of the first 100% Basque satellite. The device, named LUR-1, has been developed at its facilities in the Alava Technology Park and its main function is to observe the Earth from space. If everything goes according to plan, its launch is scheduled for the middle of next year from California, as part of the ‘Transporter 11’ mission of the SpaceX company.

The public presentation of the satellite was attended, among others, by the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, and the Regional Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, who were able to see the spectacular AVS facilities from the hand of its CEO, Miguel Angel Carrera. In addition to this great news, AVS has also been awarded the NASA ROADS mission, of great interest for the North American agency, since it will demonstrate key technologies for orbiting, life extension or maintenance of satellites in orbit.
