Loramendi S. Coop. is a world leader in the design and development of advanced solutions for the foundry industry. It has a track record spanning more than 50 years and is part of the Mondragon Group.

Based in Vitoria-Gasteiz and with a strong international focus, Loramendi develops comprehensive solutions that combine engineering, automation and advanced technologies applied to the manufacture of sand cores.

It maintains a strategic partnership with Aurrenak S. Coop., based on the complementary nature of their solutions; together with Aurrenak’s specialisation in high-precision tooling, this enables them to tackle more complex projects and offer integrated solutions from the earliest stages of development, including the manufacture of prototypes and initial batches of castings.

Loramendi was also a pioneer in the process of internationalisation, establishing its presence abroad more than four decades ago. It now has a strong international presence, and its main customers include some of the world’s most prestigious car and commercial vehicle manufacturers, such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, General Motors, Toyota, Scania, Volvo and Renault-Nissan. Its operations span Europe, Asia and the Americas, and around 95 per cent of its production is destined for international markets.

Throughout its history, Loramendi has evolved from the development of machinery and automated production lines towards increasingly digitalised, flexible and technologically advanced solutions, incorporating fields such as additive manufacturing.

Loramendi’s joining Robotekin reinforces its commitment to collaborative innovation and to the development of the Basque industrial and technological ecosystem, sharing knowledge and experience with companies, technology centres and other stakeholders linked to robotics and automation.

“Automation and robotics have been part of our solutions and our approach to industry for decades. Joining Robotekin gives us the opportunity to share our experience in real-world industrial projects whilst, at the same time, learning from and collaborating with other stakeholders in the ecosystem. We believe that cooperation between companies, technology centres and knowledge generators is essential for developing the industrial solutions of the future and continuing to strengthen the competitiveness of our industry,” said Jorge Mateo, Business Unit Director.
