The Provincial Council of Alava in collaboration with the Basque Government launches the first robotics hub in the Basque Country.
This Thursday, 2 February, the Araba Technology Park hosted an informative meeting to present the founding principles and objectives of Robotekin, a robotics and automation ecosystem hub, to a wide and diverse cross-section of companies and sectors in the region.
The aim of the hub, headquartered in the Alava Technology Park, is to create a meeting place for this ecosystem based on trust and coopetition between companies and stakeholders involved in the robotics and automation sector. It is intended to position Alava and the Basque Country as a driving force for talent, investment and quality employment, with the ultimate aim of boosting the competitiveness of its economic fabric.
Following positive feedback from the main local stakeholders in the sector in question, dozens of preparatory meetings were held with them to assess their needs and interests prior to the creation of Robotekin. International success stories were also examined, such as that of Odense Robotics in Denmark, highlighting the opportunities presented by a hub of these characteristics for the local value chain: users, service providers, manufacturers, R&D&I, training and startups.
Taking part in the presentation of this project were the Deputy Premier of Alava and Provincial Councillor for Economic Development, Innovation and Demographic Challenge, Pilar García de Salazar Olano; the Director of Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship of the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government, Leyre Madariaga Gangoiti; the Director of BIC Araba, David Montero; and Emilio Titos, who will provide his knowledge and experience to support the implementation of the project.
In the coming weeks, Robotekin will be formally constituted as an association, its founding members will be announced and the opportunity to join will be open to all those companies that identify with the objectives of the hub.
