In accordance with the deadlines, the Robotekin Board of Directors has finally appointed Erik Echaniz as General Manager of the Association. After a selection process to which a total of 81 candidates have opted, the final choice has fallen on the figure of this engineer, who will officially occupy the new position from January 1, 2024.
Echaniz is a Process Engineer and holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Engineering from Mondragon Unibertsitatea. He has accumulated a decade of proven experience in the participation of research projects related to metal forming and joining technologies in several technological centers of the RVCTI such as Fagor Hometek, IK4-Ikerlan and CIC marGUNE, being also a participant in the technical development of the Basque Industry 4.0 project in which several initiatives related to technologies oriented to advanced manufacturing Industry 4.0 are framed.
His professional career shows a proven commitment to the cooperative sector, in particular with Copreci (design and manufacture of components for household appliances), where he has held various positions of technical and executive responsibility over the last 15 years.
Among the objectives set out in his agenda for the coming months, Echaniz will work in favor of the generation of a Robotics and Automation (R&A) ecosystem based on trust, will seek the availability of human talent for the sector and will try to turn Alava and the Basque Country into an international benchmark in inclusive R&A.
In addition, it will promote synergies to increase the value services available to local industry to meet their needs. Needs that will arbitrate in perfect harmony with those demanded by Robotekin’s associates, currently close to 40.
